Get Ready
Photoshoot & Media Readiness Prep
Thank you for considering a shoot with E.A.T. Media! There are five areas where a little advance preparation can make a huge difference — neglect them, and an otherwise perfect photo could end up with distracting elements that pull focus from where it should be: Face, Hair, Hands, Skin, & Clothes. The week before your shoot is the time to plan — decide on outfits, pick your beautification steps, and schedule appointments. None of this is required, so just take what's useful.
Area 1 — Face
- Whiten teeth: whitening strips work in a week or less, or ask your dentist — many whiten for free for new clients.
- Don't pick: a pimple is easy to cover with makeup; scabs and flaky patches aren't. Stop picking as soon as possible.
- Exfoliate a couple of times before your appointment, with a few days between sessions and a couple of days before the shoot.
- Get a facial at least a week before — facials can cause redness, and a week gives it time to heal.
- Wax or thread eyebrows a few days ahead; a quick trim/touch-up at home can be done a day or two before.
Areas 2 & 3 — Hair & Hands
- Hair: touch up roots three days prior if you dye your hair — this isn't the time for a drastic change. Get a trim for neat, healthy hair, and deep condition.
- Hands: get a manicure/pedicure — book it the day before if you're hard on your manicures. Minimalists can go with clear, neatly shaped nails; soft neutral tones work well for fingertips. Clean your jewelry (a jeweler's sonic cleaner, or the toothbrush-and-toothpaste method), and don't leave it at home.
Areas 4 & 5 — Skin & Clothes
- Skin: nair, wax, or shave — allow a few days to heal after waxing, or shave the night before. Cover legs, underarms, and (for swimsuits or lingerie) the bikini area.
- Clothes: bring 5–6 outfits that reflect you, just more polished — the pieces you love but don't often get to wear.
Outfit ideas
- Something dark: black, navy, or charcoal.
- Something light: angelic, soft, translucent — cream, nude, or light pink all work.
- Something fun/funky/whimsical: your chance to emphasize your own style (or swap in "structured," "elegant," or "formal" if that's more you).
- Something sexy: entirely your call — an understated backless dress or a bolder pinup-style look.
- Consider necklines: a boat neck or off-the-shoulder adds more interest than a basic tee — mix it up across looks.
- Consider textures: sumptuous textures add a rich, tactile element.
- Avoid prints: patterns are distracting — we want the focus on you.
